Loup

Not only do I have talented friends, but I have talented friends of friends and even though I haven’t technically met these friends of friends, it still makes us friends by association right? So that was my lengthy introduction to Danielle Ribner, the incredibly talented designer behind Loup, a clothing line that is beyond chic, but actually comfortable and doesn’t require dry cleaning. That’s pretty much all I want in life. Danielle is offering my readers 10% off all the goodies at Loup. Enter the code LONELY10 at checkout. Or use the code MADSALE for 40% off all sale items. You guys, that’s practically free clothes. Excuse me while I go restock my wardrobe.

Speaking of wild, this weekend qualified as evidenced below.

Leather Pants

This weekend I discovered that leather pants and my legs don’t mesh well together. I was depressed so I bought two pair of boots to make up for it.

Red

I’m incredibly fond of this editorial. It speaks to every ounce of my being. That’s a lot of ounces craving conversation.

Fall Goodies

I decided to embrace my football widow-dom yesterday by scrubbing the entire house clean and fawning over fashion editorials online. Then I made a list of all the things I need to obtain to round out my Fall closet — inspired by this spread in Vogue Spain.via

Faux fur vest
Leather pencil skirt
Structured handbag
Lace up bootie
Biker jacket

What I Would Have Worn

I was incredibly flattered when OnlineShoes in partnership with Rockport asked little ol’ me to style a pair of shoes in celebration of New York Fashion Week. I chose the Sasha peep-toe bootie because they come in my most favorite color and they’re suede, which screams Fall.  Also, I could probably run slash walk 5K in these sweeties, thus they are perfection. I’m a lady of comfort, which means my heels must be cushioned to the nines and Rockport uses some advanced athletic-shoe technology that trick my feet into thinking I’m walking on pillows. Seriously you guys, they’re cozy!

Had I gone to Fashion’s Night Out last week, I would have worn something along the lines of this outfit: flowy dress to hide my wine-belly + white blazer with giant shoulder pads to make my waist appear smaller + amazingly comfortable heels I haven’t stopped wearing to work or to play or even to hang out on the couch. Alas, FNO did not exist in my city this year — damn you county-wide emergency — so instead of frolicking amongst like-minded fashion lovers, I wore this outfit to hang out on my patio with a bottle of Pinot and my three dogs.

Trouser Fancy

I feel way more comfortable in pants than in skirts and they’re finally fashionable again. I’m especially drawn to the masculine/granny variety that sits high on the waist and cuffs right at the fattest part of my ankle. I think that’s the exact definition of a trouser. Also, they’re office appropriate and I don’t have to worry about the wind revealing my crotch to the homeless people I pass every day on my way into work. How about you? Pants or skirts?

Guest Post: Small Shop

http://www.smallshopstudio.com/

Sabra and I are daily readers of each others’ blogs, and although we have never actually “met” (this is being resolved ASAP!), I know enough to write this post while enjoying a glass of wine in her honor — salud!

I may also know a thing or two about her style: soft, casual and feminine, with just the right amount of fashion-forward edge. So when I saw these images from Net-a-Porter.com I immediately thought of her. Sabra always inspires me to take my laid-back looks a step further, and what better examples of this than to take that summer staple — our beloved maxi — and layer it for Fall:

So apparently the formula is: maxi dress/skirt, chunky sweater, tough booties, statement jewelry, maybe some gloves. What do we think? Are we ready to tackle this look for Fall?

Many thanks to Sabra for allowing me to spill my thoughts onto her lovely page!

...xoxo
