Something To Do

We’re on the way home from Vegas brown and exhausted. And a little bit nauseous. Recap of the trip when the swelling in my skull goes down. In the meantime, make your own friendship bracelet courtesy of Honestly WTF. Thread accessories are all the rage!

Mall Rat

My office is a quarter of a mile from a mall. There was a time I would haul ass there every chance I got to buy myself a reward for working in a cubicle all day. It occurred to me recently that I haven’t stepped near the place in months. I think this means I’ve evolved as an office worker.

It’s been too damn long since I’ve bought myself a “I work in a cubicle all day poor me I need a new necklace for my sacrifices” gift so here’s a list of stuff I covet and will probably buy the next time I feel suffocated at work.

1. H&M chiffon dress
2. H&M boyfriend blazer
3. Anthropologie summer sorbet scarf
4. Anthropologie sliced stone earrings
5. Zara fashion city bag
6. Anthropologie beaded mercury wedges

The Husband thinks my taste in clothes and jewelry resembles that of Blanche Devereaux, but what can I say, I love knits and gaudy accessories. Today, I’m wishing I had an extra $10k laying around for this beauty.

This weekend, my goal is to bake bread with the pound of zucchini I have in my fridge and work on my tan.  Happy Friday!

Hang Mirror, Buy More Stuff: Check and Check

Last night we hung the mirror in the dining room. “We” meaning our neighbor’s son who we call on to do the stuff we can’t bear doing ourselves. That mirror is heavy and it needed to be earthquake-proofed. Sorry Husband, but I don’t trust you to earthquake-proof anything over 35 lbs. The space is coming together…slowly, but remember what it looked like before. I’m cringing.

Also, if you didn’t already know, I’m a hunter gatherer of  bar cart accessories. Remember when I fell in lust with this tortoise shell ice bucket and these blue tumblers? I found cheap alternatives with the same effect. Next on the list, a brass ice bucket.

Gold Rush

Retail stores like TJ Maxx and Tuesday Morning offer a gold mine of cheap home goods. On Sunday, I picked up this $10 tray for the bar cart and this completely impractical gold branch thing that I have no use for but had to have. It currently graces the fireplace mantle, but I’m sure I’ll eventually find it a permanent home. Do you ever buy stuff you don’t know what to do with?
