(Wo)Man Cave

Remember this room?

Now it looks a little more like this…

Ugly

Not as ugly

I had no intention of redecorating our loft space, but my cousin was moving out of her apartment and had some furniture to get rid of and I couldn’t let the opportunity pass by. A couple of coats of chalkboard paint, a new couch and armchair and some accessories completely turned the once overcrowded room into a less overcrowded room. There are still a few things left to do like draw on the walls and insert a bookshelf along the back of the space, but overall I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.

The Husband refuses to have me go on calling the loft a man cave though. Acoording to him, the pink pillow officially converts the space into female territory. So despite my orginally trying to create a nicer place for the Husband to enjoy football games, I inadvertantly turned it into my own haven where I can sip wine and watch Sex and the City in peace. Amen.

Updated: Living and Dining Room Before & Afters

I kissed the old point-and-shoot goodbye and took some updated photos of our home with my new SLR camera. Granted I’m no photographer, but at least you get a clearer picture of what I’ve done to the place. I included some before shots of my living and dining room so you can see the hideousness I lived with prior to redoing our floors. I was a saint for putting up with the chipped marble and berber carpet for as long as I did. (The befores were taken as we were clearing house to prepare for the floor install. It was never that bare bones). Read more about these makeovers here, here, and here.

Black Beauty

I imagine it’s easier to identify a four-week-old fetus on an ultrasound than it is to pick the perfect shade of black paint. After staring at swatches for 72 hours I made the decision based on the name of the color.  Black Beauty sounded more appealing than Twilight Zone, Onyx or Iron Mountain. And it’s as rich and gorgeous as I had hoped. Benjamin Moore came through yet again.

Pizza, Bubbly and Ben

The Husband and I have another crazy weekend in front of us so the only way we’re ever going to finish painting the office is to turn it into a date night activity. So tonight, we’re going to make our own pizza, chug sip champagne and hang out with our good friend Benjamin Moore.

Gray Matters

It’s been a week since we primed the office/guest room and I still haven’t decided on which shade of gray to go with. I’ve narrowed it down to Benjamin Moore’s Silver Fox (left) and Stonington Gray (right).

I’m leaning towards the Stonington Gray. The light in this photo is awful so here are some photosI found that better depict these colors. What do you think?
