Preparation

I’m leaving for Europe in two weeks (I realize how ridiculously pretentious that sounds) and so me not blogging on the reg is to prepare you for my absence (even more pretentious I know). But I am so incredibly busy planning my outfits and buying mini shampoo and conditioner that blogging has fallen by the wayside.

Just kidding you guys. My days are spent fulfilling my corporate duties and now that The Husband is home every night, we cook dinner together and actually have in depth conversations about stuff. I’ve also been hard at work on my secret project and catching up on Homeland. Oh and this is the first weekend I’ll be at home in weeks so I look forward to planning my outfits for Europe 😉

Happy Friday!

Addicted to Social Media?

This article really speaks to me. It outlines 25 signs indicating you need a vacation from social media. I am guilty of the following:

  • You enter a new place or social situation and you immediately judge whether it’s Instagram-worthy.
  • You speak in hashtags. For example, “I totally just fell down the stairs. Hashtag —fail,” or “I ate too many donuts today. Hashtag—first world problems.”
  • You’re starting to resent the frequency with which you type the phrases, “check out,” “click here,” and “for more details.”
  • You’re frustrated when you see low engagement on your most important personal status updates.
  • When you go out to eat, your food is always cold because you’ve just Instagrammed it into oblivion.
  • You come up with ideas for posts while hanging out with your friends. You immediately start texting yourself future post ideas.
  • You’ve used “Ermahgerd!” when speaking with your parents.

I think we’re all in the same boat right? #bloggerproblems

Loup

Not only do I have talented friends, but I have talented friends of friends and even though I haven’t technically met these friends of friends, it still makes us friends by association right? So that was my lengthy introduction to Danielle Ribner, the incredibly talented designer behind Loup, a clothing line that is beyond chic, but actually comfortable and doesn’t require dry cleaning. That’s pretty much all I want in life. Danielle is offering my readers 10% off all the goodies at Loup. Enter the code LONELY10 at checkout. Or use the code MADSALE for 40% off all sale items. You guys, that’s practically free clothes. Excuse me while I go restock my wardrobe.

Lush

I think I’m ready to wear dark lipstick again without being reminded of my poor makeup choices in 1998. I’ll let you know how it works out. TGIF!

We Partied

Well I’ve determined that I don’t ever want to be a party planner. That shiz is hard so if that’s your line of work, I commend you. Our small party seemed huge in our teeny house, but we made it work and based on the empty bottles and our neighbors’ complaints, I think our guests had fun.We set up a full bar inside, beer tasting and cigar bar outside and passed around no frill hors d’oeuvres. We also had ice cream cake and chocolate peanut butter bars that everyone raved about.

I wish I could give you a visual, but I realized that when you host a party, it’s rude to expect your guests to wait around while you set up a tripod and take pictures. I didn’t even Instagram you guys! So just imagine it looked like this:

Holla

I took a break from blogging last week and it was invigorating. But I missed you guys too much to stay away long. Your comments made me feel wanted and when I feel wanted, I deliver.  I’m still figuring my shit out, but I’ll try to meet your expectations in the meantime.

Hearts and sparkles,

Pondering

I started this blog almost two years ago exactly when The Husband went back to school to get his MBA. I had some serious time to kill. He’s graduating in a few weeks and that phase in my life is coming to an end, which has me thinking…what the hell have I done with myself in the last two years?

Blogging has pretty much improved the quality of my life. I made some really funny friends, discovered I love photography and finally learned how to navigate Etsy. I have a love hate relationship with my blog, but I can’t bring myself to quit. What I do need to do, though, is focus more of my energy on other creative projects and get really good at something like photography. So instead of this being the Lonely Wife Project, I’m officially dubbing this next phase as the “Figure My Shit Out Project.” Please bear with me as I try to figure my shit out.
