Brow Dilemma

Yesterday I had my first experience at Anastasia Brow studio. I was not prepared. According to Ms. brow specialist who lives by the Golden Ratio eyebrow technique, mine are too thin and too arched. I went in looking unruly and came out looking like I had grown a couple of mustaches on my forehead. She insisted I let them grow out and went to town with a dark brow pencil. The effect looked something like this.

To mitigate my panic, I immediately searched thick browed beauties on Pinterest. It helped a little. I’m giving this b— a month to make me look polished, but if I’m still feeling like Bambi Northwood-Blyth, it’s back to my usual shape.

  1. […] it seems my eyebrows are incredibly popular among models. Also, today is my Friday as I’m taking tomorrow off to […]

I know everyone says Anastasia is the shizz, but if you don’t like the look — ditch it. A long time ago, I had to appear on TV in a work-related capacity. I let the network makeup artist have her way with my brows and she made me look utterly demented! Never. Again.

Personally, I am not a fan of heavy eyebrows, but to each her own. I happen to love the eyebrow pencil from YBF. I bought mine on HSN (don’t judge! — mama has insomnia) and it is fabulous. Paula Dorf also makes a great product AND she gives you stencils with it! They’re wonderful for helping you find a shape that you like.

Bottom line: just because someone’s “famous” doesn’t mean she knows what’s right for you.

You are lucky you can grow them out, I wish I could grow mine! I think it’s a sexy look. Go for it!

Um, I am fascinated and I must immediately find out if my eyebrows meet golden ratio proportion standards!

My sister meanly took a too-close picture of me in the car one day to prove that I need to color in my brows so I’ve been working on it, but I still have no idea if they’re proportionate in terms of Distance from Top-of-the-head to Chin divided by Width-of-head…. good to have goals.

I battled the brow dilemma for the greater part of my twenties. I think I’ve finally won. I’ve received a few compliments but that could be because they look way better than the thin, weirdly arched ones I had before. Very homegirl. I know!

  7. Other than the first two ladies, I think all of these eyebrows are super sexy. I’ve been making a concerted effort the past 6 months to fill in my brows. I think gradual is essential. Any dramatic change for me is traumatizing.

This is prob why I’m been dreaming about blunt bangs for over a year now but havent taken the plunge.

I use Anastasia’s brow and brush pencil and I love it! My brows aren’t very pluck friendly, and I’ve always hated pencils, but she came to Dallas last year and it was a real eye opener for me, along with the thicker brows that have been popular over the last year. I am now mote comfortable with a slightly thicker brow, though some people still feel that a thinner brow is the go to style. They are much lower maintenance, though, and more natural looking! I hope you post a picture – I bet you look beautiful, despite how doubtful you feel about the whole thing 🙂

He He He. I’ve always wanted to try Anastasia and I defnitely need a pro to give them a more flattering shape but now you’ve scared me! I think thick brows look great on some people and kinda too much on other faces. I feel like I’m always trying to make mine lighter. Hopefully, she knows what she’s doing! Does your hubbie like it? 🙂

  10. I’ve worked on her brand in the past and was paranoid to meet her but luckily that never came to be. Although I probably would have the most killer brows ever. Good luck and you have to show before and after pix at the end of the month 🙂 xoxo

Piiiiiicture! Piiiiiicture! haha 🙂 I know what you mean though, when someone uses an eyebrow pencil on me I always feel like it’s too dark and everyone’s staring at my brows!

I love big brows and wish mine would come back – I overtweezed in seventh grade and never got them back! Why didn’t you put a pic of yours on there?? C’mon Brooke Shields…

I mean I know supernatural beings are all the rage now-a-days (read vampires, zombies, etc…), but I’m not down with the werewolf look. Why can’t normal brows be in (read happy medium between wolfy and pencil thin brow)?

Since I am naturally blonde and have pretty light eyebrows and never color them in, my eyebrow girl always begs to dye my eyebrows but Im not really into it…hope you get your eyebrows sorted out 🙂 Im sure they look great on you though !

OMG those first two photos are hilarious. But I think you’ll like them. Otherwise you can always go back.

  16. I looove big brows! I want to see your new ones;)

  17. That is so funny! My girlfriend is a makeup artist and did my face a few days ago. I NEVER pencil in my brows, so when I came home my boyfriend was literally scared of me. He had me wash off my two “mustaches” immediately. I’m not really into it either. Good luck!
