I’m going to Mardi Gras you guys. Like the real one in New Orleans. I know, I can’t believe it either. I’m a little scerred of all the groping I’m told will ensue, but the Husband is 6’6” so he’s got my back. I also have anxiety about the bathroom issue as I have a strict no porta potty policy and I tend to drink too much. Any tips/tricks?
I’ll be back with a recap on Wednesday unless I’m really tired and I need an extra day to recover. You understand right?

Most important accessory-Purell clipped to your belt loop! Lots of people touching lots of things notoriously results in the Mardi Gras flu the next week. The groping isn’t that extreme except on Bourbon Street, which you will want to visit but only once and for a very few minutes! If you’re staying in one of the hotels on Canal, you should be able to make it back there for the restroom. But stay away from beer, pack your own vodka or gin for less liquid on board! Otherwise, they will usually let you in the hotel bathrooms, if you look decent, which you will! The Omni Royal is in the middle of the Quarter and the Ritz is on Canal and the Windsor Court is on the casino/CBD side of Canal. You would probably enjoy going to the Ritz and listening to Jeremy Davenport. New Orleans music in a beautiful setting with good drinks and they stay open really late. That’s my 2 cents! If you’re going uptown to the parades, the bathroom situation is much trickier! Have fun!

Yes, my dear I agree with “The Design Daredevil” (love that name!), you WILL have a blast. 2 things; #1, befriend a waitress or waiter that will let you use the potty, #2, take with you TUM’s, and the hangover pill BEFORE you drink.
Pace yourself and stay sober long enough to enjoy laughing at all the ridiculousness of this spectacle. I am a 2x veteran and I HATE crowds…but still had a memorable experience.
PS: where nice but comfy shoes my dear and be safe.
