While other 8 year olds were watching Power Rangers, I was addicted to Pretty Woman. I promised my mom I would cover my eyes during the love scenes and I didn’t even know what a hooker was until years later (it was pretty devastating, by the way, when I realized my beloved Julia Roberts was getting paid to have sex). Usually, I just forwarded it to the makeover scene. I’m a sucker for makeovers!

she is stunning, and I am with you on not understanding favorite movies when I was younger. I was obsessed with Dirty Dancing and never knew what an abortion was so when Penny was sick after hers – I thought her red necklace that she is wearing in that scene was blood and that was why… hahahhaha

To this day when that movie comes on, I stop what i’m doing and watch til the end. Such a classic. I remember thinking Richard Gere was hot when I used to watch it on repeat. And yes, the makeover scene is the best! Love that editorial. Thanks for sharing.
This is making me want to re-watch for the bajillionth time. This is a really nicely done spread. Not too tacky, not too literal, but just the right amount of reference to invoke that nostalgia for the film.

This editorial is spot on! Fun fact: apparently my mother must’ve thought I knew what a hooker was at age 7, because I was never allowed to watch PW when I was a kid. I saw it for the first time when I was in high school!!

LOVE pretty woman! and i know that her spandex outfit is supposed to be trashy and hooker-like, but i really like it!! would never wear it, but i love it ~ and i always loved her over-the-knee boots. . . i could go on and on, loved the scene where she pulled the condoms out ~ pick one, red, green, blue, i’m outta purple 😉 😉
