Preparation

I’m leaving for Europe in two weeks (I realize how ridiculously pretentious that sounds) and so me not blogging on the reg is to prepare you for my absence (even more pretentious I know). But I am so incredibly busy planning my outfits and buying mini shampoo and conditioner that blogging has fallen by the wayside.

Just kidding you guys. My days are spent fulfilling my corporate duties and now that The Husband is home every night, we cook dinner together and actually have in depth conversations about stuff. I’ve also been hard at work on my secret project and catching up on Homeland. Oh and this is the first weekend I’ll be at home in weeks so I look forward to planning my outfits for Europe ;)

Happy Friday!

Wordless Friday

Technically, there are words in this post. But sometimes I just want to post a picture without the pressure of entertaining. That is all. Happy 6 more hours till happy hour!

Small Shop Loving

You all know by now that Miss Erika is the shit right? Today marks the 10 year anniversary of her working for herself (#dreamcometrue) and she’s celebrating with the debut of her NEW LOOK on Small Shop Studio. I admire this girl something fierce and couldn’t be happier for her success. Also, she may or may not be behind my own secret project! Let’s give Erika a virtual smooch and support our social media addiction with some hashtagging — #10on1010 on Twitter.

Lush

I think I’m ready to wear dark lipstick again without being reminded of my poor makeup choices in 1998. I’ll let you know how it works out. TGIF!

Another Party

My weekend was very idyllic. Thanks for asking.

In other news, we’re in the throws of planning a bridal shower for my BFF. It’s going to be classy. And very French. And it will involve rich shades of purple and gold flatware and even calligraphy. Because that’s how we do.

Happy “worst day of the week”!

Paying Homage

This editorial inspired by Sophia Loren is my cup of tea. I am so clearly inspired by a specific type: Big hair and even bigger eyelashes.

Casual Chic Friday

This weekend may be the last time we can get away with an outfit like this until next Summer. Take advantage. Have a fabulous Labor Day weekend yo! I’ll be dancing with my girls and celebrating The Husband’s birthday. It’s going to be exceptional!

Love for Lana

You know who’s ridiculously cool? Lana Del Rey. Sultry, sexy and interesting. She’s been described as a “self-styled gangsta Nancy Sinatra.” I know she’s accused of being an industry creation (aren’t they all) and criticized for getting plastic surgery (don’t they all) but I don’t care. She puts my love for Britney Spears to shame.

This New York Times magazine interview is fairly old, but captures her pretty perfectly. Read it here. Now excuse me while I go apply liquid eyeliner.

Marilyn or Brigitte?

I allowed myself one small glass of wine with my dinner last night. Life got slightly more interesting during that hour.

In other news, I’ve been working with Irene to add a little oomph to my living room and dining room. That gurrl is magical. Despite the stupid requirements I’ve set (low budget, no painting, low budget, must keep giant sectional for The Husband) she’s already managed to make my place look more Rue and less Trading Spaces. New pieces are starting to arrive and fabrics are being determined. Next up, I need to make a decision on the large piece of art I plan to put over the couch against my black wall. Here are the ones in the running.

The first two are photographs of Marilyn Monroe by Lawrence Schiller and the last is of Brigitte Bardot on the set of Et Dieu Créa la Femme (which translates to “And God Created Women”). All would be framed in white.

Which one is your favorite?
